Covid-19: Seven-day moving average nearly doubles between Christmas and New Year

The seven-day moving average of Covid-19 cases has nearly doubled in the past two weeks, statistics show.

In the week before Christmas, the number of new Covid-19 cases was 4,107, with an average of 586.

In the week leading up to New Year’s Day, today, the number of cases registered was a whopping 7,825, with a seven-day moving average of 1,117.

The record day so far remains New Year's Eve, Friday, with 1,403 cases, while the record number of active cases was registered Saturday, with 12,222.
