MUMN seeks urgent meeting to discuss problems related to ‘different quarantine days’

Saturday, 8 January 2022, 12:24 Last update: about 3 years ago

MUMN is seeking a meeting with the Health Minister related to “the problems which employees are going to face regarding the different quarantine days issued to persons (and their children) according to their boosters.”

How can parents who have the third dose and were put on quarantine due to their 5 year old son who resulted positive return to work after 10 days whilst abandoning their child at home who still required a 14-day quarantine?, the Malta Union of Midwives and Nurses said.

Children under 5 years were never offered the vaccine let alone the booster, the union pointed out. Not all children have been vaccinated even though children from 5 to 8 years have access to vaccination, the union added.

Who will stay at home with young children who according to the new regulations on quarantine have to stay 14 days?

It is illegal to leave children unattended under 12 years of age at home, the union said.

There is also a whole lot of confusing theories on the quarantine leave with very different interpretations.

These issues should be addressed since the union was sure it will receive requests for further directives since children who were not vaccinated or partially vaccinated cannot be left at home unattended, the union said.
