New Covid-19 cases down to 563 as another patient passes away

The number of Covid-19 cases reported by health authorities has continued what appears to be a downward trend, with 563 new cases of the virus reported on Sunday.

However, a 63-year-old man became the 488th person to pass away while positive for the virus in Malta.

1,018 people have recovered from the virus, meaning that the number of active cases of the virus has dropped to 14,159.

115 patients meanwhile are currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital – down by 12 since Saturday, with seven of those – up by one – in intensive care.

1,128,125 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 273,692 of those being booster shots.

Malta has had 60,324 cases of the virus so far. 45,328 of those have recovered, while 488 have died.
