Antoinette Vassallo appointed new Commissioner for Children

Antoinette Vassallo has been appointed as the new Commissioner for Children, replacing Pauline Miceli.

Vassallo graduated as a nurse in 1978 and worked in the profession until 1985. She served as a mayor of Ta’ Xbiex for 14 years until 2013.

She was a director of the Communications Authority and chairperson of the Housing Authority between 2013 and 2017. She was a director on the Malta Industrial Parks board too.

She was vice chairperson and later chairperson of the Children And Young Persons Advisory Board (CYPAB) and is also a board member on the St Vincent de Paule home board.

She was born in 1959 and is married to former Labour MP Adrian Vassallo, with whom she has five children.
