A 75-year-old man was seriously injured on Friday after he was hit by a car in Ghaxaq.

The accident took place in Dawret Ħal Għaxaq at around 10:30am, the police said.

The victim, an Englishman who lives in Ghaxaq, was hit by a Toyota Corolla that was being driven by a 60-year-old man from Zejtun.

The casualty was given first aid on site and was later taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Magistrate Gabriella Vella is leading an inquiry. Police investigations are ongoing.
