A 55-year-old man was grievously injured on Sunday evening after he was hit by a car in a traffic accident in Luqa.

Police said that they were informed of the accident at around 19:00 in Triq Hal-Qormi in Luqa.

Preliminary investigations on the scene resulted that a 55-year-old man who lives in Balzan had been hit by a Toyota Starlet being driven by a 20-year-old from Zejtun.

The victim was given medical assistance and then taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance, where he was certified as being grievously injured.

Police said that their investigations are on going.
