Three more men have died while positive for Covid-19, as health authorities reported 143 new cases in their daily update on Friday.

Authorities said that three men aged 80, 85, and 92 respectively had died while positive for the virus, therefore taking the death toll as a result of the virus up to 579.

209 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus, taking the number of active cases down to 1,872.

70 Covid-19 patients meanwhile are currently receiving treatment at Mater Dei Hospital, with five of those in intensive care.

1,227,416 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 336,750 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 69,732 cases of the virus so far. 66,845 of those have recovered, while 579 have died.
