Asked about Joseph Muscat, Robert Abela says he will not reject those who disagree with him

Prime Minister Robert Abela was coy when asked whether he would be involving Joseph Muscat in his electoral campaign, saying that – unlike the PN – he does not reject those whom he disagrees with.

Abela was very cautious in answering questions by the media during a press conference on Tuesday which saw the announcement of another PL electoral pledge: the changing of tax bands.

“Unlike the Leader of the Opposition, I don’t reject those who I disagree with” Abela said when asked whether he would involve Muscat in the general election campaign or whether he considered the former Prime Minister to be part of the past.

Despite this answer he refused to confirm whether Muscat would be invited to any electoral activities.

Subsequently he referred to a comment made on Tuesday by PN MP Mario Galea, where he explained how individuals close to the PN party leadership made his life a living hell, including by making remarks on his mental health.

Galea withdrew his candidacy for the general election on Monday, criticising the PN’s stance on favouring new candidates over those who have been in Parliament for a while.

Abela said that this to him is very shocking and ‘not his style’.
