MUT calls on political parties to make education central to their political agendas

The Malta Union of Teachers has come up with proposals for political parties ahead of the upcoming general elections.

The MUT wants political parties to have education as a central theme in their agendas.

A document listing 60 proposals, entitled Malta Education, reflects the continuous research of the sector being done the MUT.

The presented proposals are a serious of solutions addressing current challenges faced by educators.

The document also proposes to initiate discussions for the renovation of the States educations services.

Speaking on behalf of the MUT during a press conference, President Marco Bonnici said that it hopes that the proposals enable ‘a mature national discussion on a new vision for education in a spirit of consensus towards the common good.”

“Through this document we are encouraging discussion so that together with those who will be entrusted with the administration of the country and the education sector after the next general election, we would start getting things done immediately,” he said.
