Farrugia Portelli explained that the building is almost ready and only minor works are needed. These minor works will begin in the coming months to make the building more accessible.

The government submitted the floor plans to the planning authority so that construction work could commence. In parallel, the process of purchasing furniture is underway. This furniture will be specialised for persons with disability.

For his part, Permanent Secretary Matthew Vella said that this project shows that the government places people at the centre of its work.

He said that people with disabilities have a vital role to play, and that this service will give them the opportunity to achieve their full potential in society.

"This project also shows that the government is making use of the available tools effectively to ensure that people with disabilities are given the best service possible," Vella said.

Meanwhile, Agenzija Support CEO Ruth Scibberas said this new and innovative concept aims to provide a safe space for a disabled person to grow and learn how to be independent. This concept also aims to ensure that a person with disabilities is included in society.

"As Agenzija Sapport, we not only look at the needs of persons with disability, but also at the best practices that can be implemented in the sector."

Rabat mayor Sandro Craus said that this project is a holistic vision that will allow people with a disability to benefit from these services
