Ghasri Mayor Daniel Attard has resigned from the Nationalist Party.

Posting on Facebook, he uploaded a photo of a letter he sent to PN Secretary General Michael Piccinino to that effect.

"I will remain accessible and loyal to all the people of Ghasri who elected me and who I love, as I have been for the past nine years as Mayor for the locality," he wrote.

The move has raised a number of questions as to whether this means he will be switching sides to the Labour Party, given just a day earlier he posted a photo of himself shaking hands with Prime Minister Robert Abela.
