Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dymtro Kuleba has expressed his appreciation for Malta’s commitment to uphold the sovereign rights and territorial integrity of Ukraine in international fora and for the provision of medicine and humanitarian aid to the Ukrainian people in this difficult moment.
Minister Kuleba, who has kept contact with Foreign and European Minister Evarist Bartolo since the beginning of hostilities in his country, conveyed to Minister Bartolo his appreciation to Malta’s and the Minister’s own personal efforts in support of the Ukranian community in Malta.
Minister Kubela first met Minister Evarist Bartolo in Antalya more than a year ago and both Ministers have been in contact over the last month's meeting, also in Brussels, on the fringe of monthly meetings held for EU Foreign Ministers, during which the Ukrainian situation was also discussed.
Minister Bartolo told Minister Kubela that the concept of "might is right", if applied to international relations, would make the world a dangerous place for small countries. Furthermore, he commended the heroic and courageous efforts of the Ukrainian people who deserve to live free and in peace with themselves and all their neighbours.
Minister Bartolo expressed his hope that a diplomatic solution can be achieved during the proposed meeting between Minister Kuleba and Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov in Turkey scheduled for next Thursday.
