The number of active Covid-19 cases continued to rise as there were once again more new cases reported than recoveries.

Health authorities said that 153 cases were reported, with 76 recoveries, which meant that the number of active cases is now 1,078.

There was also one death, a man aged 86, which increased the tally to 613.

There are 44 people in hospital with Covid-19, with four of them in intensive care.

As of Wednesday, 1,247,840 vaccination doses were administered, of which 345,695 were booster doses.

Malta has had 72,304 cases of the virus. 70,242 of those have recovered.
