Since parliament was dissolved, the Labour Party has been announcing its proposed measures which have always been costed, said PL president Ramona Attard.

During a political event in Pembroke, the PL president said that the PL has been ready for the electoral campaign from the start unlike the Opposition. Speaking about the PN she said that apart from its measures not being costed, there are no hints or indications on how the party’s proposals will actually going to happen.

Mentioning the political debate between PL leader Robert Abela and PN leader Bernard Grech which happened earlier on Thursday, she said it was made clear during the event that Abela’s vision is very clear for the future, whilst Grech is partisan and ill-prepared.

Attard explained how on the contrary of Abela, Grech did not know how much his electoral campaign is going to cost on the whole.

Abela said that the PL’s electoral campaign is going to cost a total of €3.3 billion.

Speaking about the PL, Attard said that that it is confident that the announced proposals will be implemented as the EU has announced that Malta will have a strong economy after its recovery from the pandemic.

Attard said that with a PL government the country knows where it stands, as when it says that it is going to increase stipends they include everyone into that equation, likewise when the party says it will pay 10,000 to first-time buyers.

On the contrary, she said that the PN “will promise one thing, and will take from somewhere else”.

The PL president urged the nation to vote for a PL government if they want to maintain what it has achieved in the past and to continue in doing achieving more things in the future.

“The PL is the only party which can bring change in this country like it has done in the past, on the contrary the only changes the PN does are on their electoral campaign and leaders,” said Attard.

If the nation wants to check on the PL’s credibility, Attard invited people to have a look at previous electoral campaign, where it has implemented many of its proposals.

She said that 90% of the previous electoral manifesto has been implemented with one budget after another.

On comparing the party’s tax proposals, she said that a person who earns €1,000 would only be receiving €22 back under a PN government whilst under a PL government they would be receiving a total of €135.

Speaking about PL’s pension ideas, she said that the PN has been in doubt as to how sustainable they are, and that is why it is proposing a fund for private companies where it is suggesting that businesses increase their expenses by €20,000 per 10 employees.

Speaking about the pre-1995 rent law reforms, she said that the PN wants to go back to the past and remove €10,000 supplements given to families over a period of 3 years.
