Prime Minister Robert Abela has once again disappointed by failing to react to the idea of a day-long electoral campaign pause to march for peace in Ukraine, said Opposition Leader Bernard Grech addressing a political event in Għarghur.

During Thursday’s political debate at University of Malta, Grech called on all political parties to join him in pausing the electoral campaign and politics for a day on Saturday and march in solidarity with Ukraine, sending a message to all Ukrainians that Malta is there for them at a humanitarian level.

Grech said that once again the country has a government which does not react to a noble proposal. He claimed that the PN is the only party which takes a stand, such as during the Libyan crisis when the PN anticipated and thought of problems as a result of the crisis, while the PL did not. Grech accused Abela of showing insensitivity to the Ukrainian conflict.

He continued to say that the PN has a total of 70 candidates from different backgrounds, professions, ages, and skills, who are there for the citizen’s interests.

Grech said that thus far, the PL has managed to copy many of the PN’s proposals such as those regarding sexual health and IVF. “The only ones it did not copy are the proposals which reduce taxes, and those which prevent corrupt deals,” Grech said.

He added that Abela does not want to address the problem of high cost of living, whilst the PN will allocate €40 million to tackle this issue.

Grech condemned the PL for not creating a single new economic sector, whilst the PN is proposing 10 new economic sector which incentivize families, pensioners, educators, nurses, students and workers, as these people are the pillar for which the PN’s vision can be built on, he said.
