The Planning Authority’s decision to grant permission for an enormous block of apartments near the Ta’ Sannat cliffs proves Labour’s “hypocrisy” on the environment and Gozo, the PN said in a statement.

It was referring to the PA’s decision to approve an application by Gozitan Developer Joseph Portelli in Sannat.

The PN said that, after Abela put up billboards with empty promises all around the country, the PA went against the advice given by the NGO’s the case officer and residents and issued this “scandalous” permit.

“Robert Abela has lost all credibility on the environment. It is no surprise that the only proposal he did not copy from the PN was that to add 50,000 square metres of ODZ space and to protect ODZ land with a two-third parliamentary majority.”

“This confirms that, after the election, Abela will resurrect the Marsascala marina project, give out public land like Labour had done at Zonqor, just like Muscat had brought back Konrad Mizzi and Keith Schembri in 2017 despite saying he had learnt his lesson.”
