The number of active Covid-19 cases has gone up for the fifth day running, statistics released by the health authorities show.

One more death has been recorded, that of a 99-year-old man, which takes the tally to 614.

The health authorities said 127 new cases were recorded, while 86 people recovered.

The takes the total number of active cases to 1,189.

There are 48 people in hospital with Covid-19, three of whom in intensive care.

Until Friday, 1,248,861 vaccination doses were administered, of which 346,289 were booster jabs.

Malta has had 72,570 cases of the virus, 70,396 of those have recovered.
