A man was critically injured this afternoon after he lost control of the quadbike he was riding, and it overturned.

The accident took place in San Anard Street, Victoria, at 12.30pm.

The driver, a 31-year-old English man, was driving a Sheng FX400.

He was taken to Gozo General Hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Bridgette Sultana is leading an inquiry.
