PL manifesto has no plan to fix Malta’s reputation – Grech

Saturday, 12 March 2022, 08:47 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Labour Party manifesto presented on Friday has nothing in it which shows a plan how to fix Malta’s reputation, Opposition Leader Bernard Grech said in a first reaction.

Malta has been grey-listed by the Financial Action Task Force and is facing the European Union’s wrath on the golden passports scheme.

After 20 days of campaigning, just one week before early voting, the PL published its manifesto which shows it has no idea how the economy should be bolstered with new sectors.

It does not commit itself not to raise taxes and does not mention living income, the PN leader observed.

Neither does it say how it will resolve the Vitals/Steward and Electrogas scandal, nor how it will give back money stolen in energy bills.

The PL programme does not speak about how the Air Malta crisis will be resolved, and only promises studies on mass transportation systems without making a clear commitment to implementing one, Grech added.
