The Nationalist Party has pledged to seriously tackle the issue of excessive development in Malta, saying the matter has significantly reduced the quality of people’s lives.

The PN also stated that it would give back spaces to the people to form part of their ‘green lung’ initiative in urban spaces.

Opposition Leader Bernard Grech reiterated the importance of the PN’s proposal to increase Outside Development Zone (ODZ) land by 50,000 square meters of land back to the people every year stating that “in order for land to be taken back out of ODZ, a two thirds majority in parliament would be needed.”

Grech also pledged to decrease the environment deficit found in Malta, increase the urban landscaping, create a national fund for the environment, increase investment in national parks, increase pedestrian zones in localities and also communicate with the private sector to invest in green areas.

Grech was accompanied by election candidates Robert Cutajar, Janice Chetcuti, Alex Mangion and Karl Gouder.
