Two elderly men have died while positive for Covid-19 as 251 cases of the virus were reported by health authorities on Monday.

Authorities said that the men were aged 79 and 85 respectively, and their deaths take the total number of people who have died in Malta while positive for the virus up to 624.

66 people meanwhile have recovered from the virus, taking the number active cases up to 2,539.

54 patients meanwhile are currently being treated at Mater Dei Hospital, with one of those being in intensive care.

1,252,837 doses of the vaccine have been administered thus far, with 348,409 of those being booster doses.

Malta has had 74,651 cases of the virus so far.  71,568 of those have recovered, while 624 have died.
