Three persons were injured following a fire accident which engulfed a car in Żejtun.

The accident, which happened in Misraħ Karlu Diacono, Żejtun, was apparently caused by flares, which engulfed the Honda Accord.

The persons injured included a 26-year-old man resident in Żabbar, a 23-year-old woman from Marsascala and a five year old boy.

The victims were assisted by a medical team on site and taken to Mater Dei Hospital. The woman was certified with serious injuries, the child was certified with grave injuries, and the man with minor injuries.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the scene to assist.

Duty Magistrate Rachel Montebello was informed of the case and appointed experts to assist the inquiry.

Police investigations are still ongoing.
