A couple who were celebrating their wedding on Saturday evening stepped out onto the street to wave to the Pope as he passed by in his car in Mellieha.

The car came to a brief stop next to the bride and groom. The Pope rolled down his window and took the groom's hand.

The Pope was on his way back from Gozo to the apostolic nunciature in Rabat.
