Bugeja Said, who is a fisheries researcher, meanwhile will serve as the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights within the Agriculture Ministry.

Both were elected to Parliament for the first time in 2022: Buttigieg was elected via a casual election on the ninth district, while Bugeja Said was elected through the gender corrective mechanism.

Prime Minister Robert Abela had said after his initial Cabinet appointment that two more women will join his ranks once the casual election and gender corrective process is complete.

Buttigieg and Bugeja Said will take the oath on Thursday 14 April.
