A woman was critically injured on Tuesday evening when she was hit by a car on the Marsa-Hamrun bypass, the police said.

The woman, aged 34 of Santa Venera, was hit by a Mazda Demio driven by a 30-year-old man of Birkirkara at 9pm.

The woman was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Magistrate Nadine Lia is leading an inquiry.
