In a short Facebook post, Prime Minister Abela said that the government must continue pushing for more change in the reforms and equality sector so that Malta can have a more just society.

Bugeja Said, who is a fisheries researcher, meanwhile will serve as the Parliamentary Secretary for Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Animal Rights within the Agriculture Ministry.

On her remit, Abela said that when it comes to fisheries and aquaculture, the country needs to not only look after the interests of fishermen and the sector as a whole, but also explore new possibilities and opportunities in this area.

He added that the government had a number of important proposals to implement when it comes to animal rights as well.

Both the new Cabinet members were elected to Parliament for the first time in 2022: Buttigieg was elected via a casual election on the ninth district, while Bugeja Said was elected through the gender corrective mechanism.
