29th International Easter Meet hosted by the ASA gets underway

Thomas Wareing establishes new 200m Medley Record

The first sessions of the 29th International Easter Meet, hosted by the Aquatic Sports Association of Malta were underway today at the Tal-Qroqq National Pool.

The three day swimming bonanza will continue in its usual format of hosting Heats in the mornings and Finals in the afternoon.

The 29th International Easter Meet, which  is an official FINA qualifying event, will see 265 athletes representing eleven Clubs competing in 76 events.  

On the first day of competition,  Thomas Wareing established a new national record in the 200m Medley. His time of 2:07.95 beat the previous record of 2:08.34 he himself established in 2021 in Hungary. 

In the meantime a number of Easter Meet records were also established by Matthew Satariano established an Easter Meet Group C Record in the 100m freestyle, clocking a time of 55.75.  In the 800m freestyle event Alexsandar Savic clocked a time of 8:26.50, whilst Sasha Gatt clocked a time of 9:02.22

The second day of competition will start on Friday morning at 9am.
