Former parliamentary secretary John Rizzo Naudi has died, aged 96.
A doctor by profession, Rizzo Naudi served in five parliamentary legislatures between the 1970s and 1990s.
He was first elected in 1976 and remained in Parliament until 1995.
He had served as parliamentary secretary for the elderly in the first Eddie Fenech Adami government of 1987, and was later moved to the social policy sector in 1992.
Rizzo Naudi was a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and a medical registrar at St Luke’s Hospital in the 1960s, starting that job after a seven-year stint in Malaysia as a young medic.
Rizzo Naudi was married and had three children.
In a statement, the Nationalist Party said Rizzo Naudi will be remembered for his work for the elderly. He was a politicians who was loved by everyone, and his contribution to society is still being felt today.
PN leader Bernard Grech paid tribute to Rizzo Naudi in a Facebook post.
PN deputy leader David Agius was also among the first to offer the family his condolences.
