A woman was grievously injured in a traffic accident in Paola early Saturday morning, the police said.

The accident took place in Santa Lucija Avenue at 1am.

It involved a Mercedes Benz driven by a 46-year-old man of Zebbug and a Renault Clio driven by a 21-year-old woman of Fgura.

The woman was taken to hospital with grievous injuries.

The man was treated at a health centre.
