PN gives Jason Azzopardi 24 hours to substantiate claims

Sunday, 1 May 2022, 19:11 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Nationalist Party has given Jason Azzopardi 24 hours to substantiate claims he made on the social media.

The decision was taken at a hastily-convened meeting of the administrative council.

Earlier Sunday, PN leader Bernard Grech denied an allegation made by Azzopardi, who failed to get elected last month,  that the party had received a donation in exchange for working towards a presidential pardon for somebody.

The PN leader denied what he described as “serious allegations on the party” and said that he will be meeting the PN’s administrative council later on during the day to address the issue and see what steps the party needs to take.

At the meeting, held Sunday afternoon, it was decided to give Azzopardi 24 hours to provide evidence of what he said and explain himself before the party’s Commission for Ethics, Discipline and Social Media.

The commission has the authority to act, investigate and decide on such claims.
