The popular and well-known DJ Ian Lang has passed away at the age of 55, his wife said on social media on Thursday morning.

Lang has been living in Malta for over 30 years, and was a well-known face in the local party scene as from the 1990s, when he played in night clubs such as Styx, Axis, and Numero Uno. 

Lang also had a long association with Malta’s most listened to radio station, Bay Radio.  He was involved with the radio station since its inception in 1992 and continued to be a regular presenter on the station.

“It is with a broken heart and great sadness that I write this post... You are now at peace my love, fly high Ian Lang!,” his wife Kathy wrote on Facebook on Thursday.

“Your void is already immensely felt and we will miss you forever. The love, laughter and fun we shared is priceless and a gift you gave to me and our kids Emily, Hannah and Mia. You will live on in our hearts for eternity,” she continued.

In their own post, 89.7 Bay said that Lang had shaped the radio station into what it is today, and said that they were in “deep shock” at the news.
