1,452 soldiers and 153 officials make up Malta's Armed Forces, Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri has said.
He was answering a parliamentary question made by PN MP Joe Giglio, where he was asked how many soldiers, officials and other roles there are in the armed forces.
Camilleri also said that 194 volunteers serve the Armed Forces, and 54 civilians.
Camilleri said that a call was published in the government's newspaper on 29 October 2021. A total of 176 applicants applied in various calls issued to soldiers in the force and a total of 29 applicants applied in the call for Cadet Officers.
The selection process is ongoing and is expected to be completed in the coming days, Camilleri said.
