We have as many massage parlours as we have pastizzi shops, PN MP says in call for better regulation

We have as many massage parlours as we have pastizzi shops, said PN MP Graziella Attard Previ during Parliament on Tuesday as she appealed for better regulation on the former type of establishment.

Attard Previ said that the high amount of massage parlours is more likely because they are being used as brothels rather than as a place to actually serve those who are suffering from muscle pain.

Referring to an article published by the Times of Malta last Tuesday, she said that the GU clinic is doing its utmost with its limited resources to try and treat people who come in with different STIs and STDs.

Attard Previ said that many of the men who are getting treated at the GU clinic have contracted their infection or disease from a massage parlour.

She remarked that most of the individuals who work in these parlours are foreign women who almost always have men as customers, adding that “maybe this is a confirmation that these are indeed brothels.”

Attard Previ said that the profession of a prostitution is one which decreases the level of dignity of every woman and that “you are not going to ask girls in school if they want to become prostitutes.”

The PN MP appealed to the government to improve regulations on massage parlours and questioned what kind of qualifications the people working there have together with their working conditions.
