Three men were injured in two separate fights in St Julian’s on Thursday night, the police said.

Just before midnight, the police were informed of a fight that was taking place in St Augustine Street.

The fight involved three men, one of whom escaped from the scene.

The other two, both French, and aged 61 and 58, were taken to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

The older of the two suffered grievous injuries while the other was slightly hurt.

Police investigations led them to arrest a 36-year-old man from Poland, who is being held for questioning.

In the second incident, police officers found an injured man lying on the ground in St George’s Road at 2am.

The man was taken to hospital with serious injuries. He was injured in a fight that took place in an establishment in the same street.
