Saturday, 18 June 2022, 09:21 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Sliema local council said that police will be patrolling the Sliema promenade, from the Exiles area to the Strand, from 5am to midnight.

The police patrolling system will be in place as from Monday 20 June after talks with the Prime Minister and the Home Affairs Minister, the council said.

The council added that it is seeking to extend the patrolling system on a 24-hour basis.

The council did not specify whether the patrolling will extend to the rocky beaches.

The Sliema promenade is a place which is heavily frequented, especially during the summer months. Several incidents have been reported to the police over the years.

Mayor John Pillow was himself the victim of an attack by a group of youths who were caught urinating in public.
