A man is in danger of dying after he suffered burns while he was carrying out maintenance work on a boat.

Police said that the accident happened at around 11am in Triq San Pawl Kuntent in Rabat.

Preliminary investigations on site showed that a 36-year-old man who lives in Gudja had suffered from burns while he was carrying out maintenance work on a boat inside a garage.

The man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as suffering from serious injuries.

Members of the Civil Protection Department were on site to assist.

Duty magistrate Noel Bartolo is leading an inquiry while police investigations are also ongoing.
