A man has been hospitalised with grievous injuries after he fell a storey and a half off the balcony of his residence.

Police said that the accident took place at around 4am on Monday in Triq il-Genista in Kalkara.

Preliminary investigations showed that the man, who is from the Czech Republic, had fallen around a storey and a half from the balcony of his residence.

A medical team was called on site and the man was taken to Mater Dei Hospital where he was certified as suffering from grievous injuries.

Police investigations are ongoing.
