Conference League: Superior Greens settle for a draw

Friday, 8 July 2022, 11:24 Last update: about 3 years ago

Floriana had to settle for a scoreless draw yesterday at Ta’ Qali against Moldova’s Petrocub, leaving the Conference League qualification issue wide open next week at Chisinau.

The Greens were the better team yesterday and deserved something more than that obtained.

However Floriana failed to capitalise on one of the good number of scoring chances created throughout the game.

The Greens had more of the ball, with long stretches of possession of the ball.

Coach Atzori did not make much changes from last season, only introducing some new signings in the second half.

Floriana: Georgi Kitanov, Adam Magri Overend, Christian Rutjens, Oualid El Hasni, Kemar Reid (67’ James Scicluna), Andrei Ciolacu (67’ Mattia Veselji), Ulises Arias, Matias Garcia (67’ Carlo Zammit Lonardelli), Emiliano Callegari, Jan Busuttil (88’ Neil Cassar), Alejandro Garzia (58’ Lorenzo Trillo).

Petrocub: Cristian Avram, Victor Mudrac, Iaser Turcan (70’ Cornel Cotogoj), Vladimir Ambros, Sergiu Platica, Artem Federov (46’ Alexandru Bojan), Victor Bogaciuc, Ioan-Calin Revenco (80’ Costantin Sandu), Ion Jardan, Marius Iosipol, Maxim Cojacaru (83’ Mihai Lupan).

Referee: Pavel Orel (Czech Republic)
