Minister for Gozo Clint Camilleri has launched two schemes aimed at incentivising the tourism sector in Gozo.

At the launch of these schemes, Minister Camilleri said that despite the fact that the tourism sector is recovering and establishments are reporting good results, “we need to take the opportunity to assist with aid schemes to continue improving the tourism sector in Gozo.”

"Through these schemes, which complement the strategy being embraced by the Ministry for Gozo, we are inspiring that, in addition to continuing to increase the number of visitors both local and foreign, we encourage them to spend more days in Gozo,”said Minister Camilleri.

For his part, the Director of Tourism and Economic Development Ronald Sultana said that, through these schemes, applicants will be reimbursed for the capital cost incurred and that these schemes will remain eligible until December 2023.

Supporting Marketing Initiatives for the Accommodation Sector in Gozo

The first scheme is intended to incentivize the housing sector in Gozo to focus more on the use of consistent and professiona digital promotion.

The aim is to increase the number of bed nights in Gozo with the participation of these campaigns, both for the domestic and international market.

Supporting the Adventurous Tourism Industry in Gozo through Hiring Equipment Refund Scheme

The second scheme is related to the adventurous tourism industry. The adventure tourism niche is synonymous with the VisitGozo brand, as Gozo is projected as an ideal destination for practicing similar experiences, including diving, kayaking, cycling and rock-climbing.

In order to sustain this reputation, and to continue to improve the product offered, the Ministry is incentivizing the operators offering this service to invest more in the product they offer, even against a background of recovery of the tourism sector.
