The Labour Party’s media chief said he did not form part of the decision to stop the radio programme presented by former PL president Manwel Cuschieri.

In a post on Facebook, Jason Micallef said that it is not true that he has been asked to leave his position as chairman of the Labour Party media, One.

In the past weeks, he wrote, a controversy erupted among hundreds of One Radio after Cuschieri’s programme “Linja diretta” was suspended.

“I am constrained to publicly declare that I had no part in the decision to abruptly stop Manwel Cuschieri’s programme, and neither was I consulted about it,” he said.

Political programmes on One Radio and One TV have been, and remain until today, under the responsibility of the Labour Party, “including the presenters”.

Micallef said this because he felt it was unjust that he was harshly criticised on a decision for which he had no responsibility.

He said that Cuschieri is “one of the best communicators” and has been there from the beginning, “in defeat and in victory”. Cuschieri never asked for any remuneration, Micallef said.
