A 35-year-old woman from Tarxien was grievously injured on Monday in a traffic accident in Mellieha.

The two-vehicle crash took place in Triq il-Mellieha at around 10:30am, the police said in a statement.

One of the vehicles, a Peugeot Expert, was being driven by a 33-year-old woman from Victoria, Gozo. The other woman was driving an Opel Corsa.

The 35-year-old was taken to Mater Dei Hospital by ambulance.

Police investigations are ongoing.
