With turtle nesting season well under way, volunteer Serena from Wildlife Rescue Malta spotted turtle tracks today at Ramla l-Hamra Gozo during the early morning checks on the beach.
Currently, volunteers from Nature Trust, ERA and the Wildlife Rescue are patrolling Maltese beaches at night as well as performing morning checks for any nests left throughout the night.
The nest found this morning will be monitored day and night for the next two months by volunteers until the hatchlings emerge and can flee to the open sea.
Wildlife Rescue Team Malta urges people who spot a turtle on a beach to call on 99999505 and give them five to ten meters of space.
