A collective agreement for the improvement of working conditions for 130 LESA officers was signed on Thursday morning.
The agreement was signed on Thursday, having only come after LESA officials resorted to industrial action to get their way.
During a press conference at the offices of the LESA agency in Fgura, LESA CEO Svetlick Flores said that various investments have been made in the agency, both in terms of resources and manpower since it became a government agency in 2018.
Flores said that the second collective agreement since 2018 is a further step in favour of the workers, both financially and in terms of human resources.
Home Affairs Minister Byron Camilleri also addressed the conference, saying that the workers’ rights are being improved, as well as better conditions, benefits, and opportunities for their career.
Camilleri said that it is important to invest in equipment as well as human resources, and that through the investment there will also be improvement in the code of ethics of the workers so that they can provide a better service to society.
Secretary General of the General Workers’ Union Josef Bugeja was also present for the signing of the agreement.
