A worker was grievously injured on Wednesday afternoon after the wooden plank he was standing on gave way, with the result that the man fell one storey.

The police said that the accident took place in a construction site in Triq Xaghman, Sannt, at 5pm.

The man, aged 36 of Victoria, was taken to Gozo Hospital for treatment.
