A few weeks ago, we announced that a renewal process at The Malta Independent had started with the appointment of Stephen Calleja as Editor-in-Chief.

Calleja now also takes over responsibility as Editor of The Malta Independent on Sunday. Both positions had been held by Neil Camilleri, who stepped down to travel to Ukraine for a longer term, having already been there twice for a few weeks to cover the war. Camilleri retains the title of Senior Editor.

Kevin Schembri Orland has been appointed editor of The Malta Independent (daily), while Albert Galea has been appointed deputy editor with responsibility for this media house’s website www.independent.com.mt

Production manager Andre Camilleri is now also editor of The Malta Business Weekly.

Calleja has been employed with Standard Publications Ltd since 1993, occupying various roles including Daily Editor, Online Editor and Senior Editor.

Schembri Orland joined Standard Publications Ltd in 2014, and has been deputy editor since April 2019.

Andre Camilleri has been employed with Standard Publications since 1996.

Galea joined Standard Publications Ltd in 2018.
