The Maltese Police have arrested a 36-year-old Albanian man through a European Arrest Warrant issued by the Greek authorities.
The man, Ledjon Brakaj, is wanted to undergo criminal procedures regarding a double homicide and arson in Greece.
He was arraigned in court on Saturday on extradition proceedings.
Brakaj was remanded in custody.
The prosecution told the court that the accused was apprehended when his fingerprints were found to match those sent by the authorities in Greece. Defence lawyer Franco Debono, however, said that this evidence was not presented in court, and also said that from the documents exhibited by the prosecution, not all names tally with those belonging to the accused.
Bail was not requested.
Inspectors Kurt Ryan Farrugia and Robinson Mifsud prosecuted.
