A man has been arrested after he allegedly set fire to two cars in Qormi in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police said that they had arrested a 36-year-old man who lives in Valletta in connection with arson committed on two vehicles over the weekend.

Police said that they, together with the Civil Protection Department, were called to Triq ix-Xitwa in Qormi at 5am on Saturday 20 August because some vehicles were on fire.

Investigations by the major crimes unit and the Qormi district resulted in the arrest of a 36-year-old man from Valletta.

Duty magistrate Nadine Lia is leading an inquiry.

The man is expected to be charged in the coming days.
