Jefferson De Assis scored a brace in the second half to give Gzira a come from behind victory over champions Hibernians.

Although still early in the season the defeat leaves the champions in a rather embarassing position, already eight points behind Hamrun Spartans.

For the champions this was the second defeat in four matches after their debacle against the same Spartans.

In another match yesterday Balzan registered their third victory of the season thanks to two second half goals after Marsaxlokk had taken a first half lead. Marsaxlokk are still in search of their first victory of the season.

In the late match Birkirkara kept the pace with Hamrun Spartans obtaining their fourth win by easily disposing of Santa Lucia.
