Applications open for the 2022 National Workers of the Year Award

The Parliamentary Secretary for Social Dialogue, Andy Ellul, on Saturday launched the edition of the National Workers of the Year Award 2022.

Nominations for the 2022 National Workers of the Year Award are open until Monday 31 October. Anybody can apply online by going to the site socialdialogue.gov.mt.

Ellul said that the government made sure that it supports the workers in any circumstance, even during the most difficult times that required more sacrifice than before. He also said that the government will continue working to further strengthen workers' rights and to continue improving working conditions.

Ellul encouraged the public to participate and nominate those people who think they are worthy to win the 2022 National Workers of the Year Award so that through this scheme success stories can eb shared and role models will be created.

The Chairperson of the Board for National Workers Workers of the Year Award 2022, Angela Agius said that apart from the main award of the worker of the year there will be nine other categories that will reward:

Team of the year, manager/head of the year, the organisation which promotes the best work-life balance, best businesswoman, best entrepreneur, most inspiring young leader, the company which promotes social responsibility the most, the most inclusive organisation and lifetime achievement award.

The lifetime achievement award, which has been introduced this year, will be awarded to the worker who has made a significant contribution to the workplace.

Once applications close the selection board, which is composed of independent members, will select the winners of each category, who will then be announced in a ceremony that will take place on 16 December under the patronage of the President of Malta, George Vella.
