Saturday, 17 September 2022, 10:15 Last update: about 3 years ago

The Responsible Gaming Foundation (RGF) has ignited an awareness campaign called “TAKE ACTION”.

This campaign is part of a €1.1 million project which is partly being financed by the European Social Fund. The foundation said that the complete project includes research, training and also an awareness campaign.

The campaign is divided into three main groups: children, teenagers and young adults (10-35), and the rest of the general public.

The RGF said that its main objective is to inform the public about the importance of everyone being responsible when gambling. It also wishes to inform the public about the support the foundation offers in instances when people practice playing these games in excess.

It also said that the campaign also aims to reduce the stigma gambling addicts receive and create awareness in the community about the repercussions related to gambling.

The campaign encourages people who are going through an addiction problem to make contact either through the foundation’s support line, 1777 or through the chatline on the website www.rgf.org.mt.

The Minister for Economy, European Funds and Lands, Silvio Schembri, visited the offices of RGF where he was shown the videos currently being shared for this campaign.

Schembri thanked the non-executive chairman of the RGF, Neville Mangion, the general manager, Kevin O’Neil, the various ambassadors of the campaign, and all the staff who worked at RGF for working on this campaign.

Schembri took a moment to emphasise the importance of being immediately aware of the signs that may indicate that there is a gambling problem.

The RGF thanked Schembri for his visit and it also thanked all those involved in the continuous work that was so necessary for this campaign to be successful.
